David Struthers

David Struthers founded Onsight Editorial to provide the highest quality English language editing and writing for academic and corporate clients. Originally from Southern California, he has lived in Copenhagen for more than a decade. He began his undergraduate education dabbling in physics and astronomy before finishing with a BA in history. He then earned an MA and PhD in history from Carnegie Mellon University. David has lectured at the University of Copenhagen and the Copenhagen Business School on subjects including: political economy, world and US history, digital communication, media strategy, and academic writing. Between 2018-2020 he worked as the senior research analyst at a Danish consultancy firm focused on sustainable urban and economic development. He brings to the table a unique blend of academic and professional writing experience with PhD-level research and analytic skills, which allows him to understand academic research and complex corporate problems to effectively communicate with field specialists and the general public.

His monograph The World in a City: Multiethnic Radicalism in Early Twentieth Century Los Angeles (University of Illinois Press, 2019) was awarded the Shelley Fisher Fishkin Prize for International Scholarship in Transnational American Studies by the American Studies Association in 2019. Together with with Peter Cole and Kenyon Zimmer he co-edited Wobblies of the World: A Global History of the IWW (Pluto Press, 2017), the first global history of the Industrial Workers of the World.
